Sidra Initiative

The Sidra Initiative is establishing a framework for the implementation of environmental projects in Kuwait and the gulf region. Through partnerships between NGOs, volunteers, government entities, and private enterprise we plan on going a long way to addressing serious environmental issues facing us such as water scarcity, air quality, and record temperatures. This initiative is run by a team of youthful and passionate group of individuals with a wide array of expertise. Our advisers include some of the region’s foremost experts in fields like meteorology, ecology, agriculture, and public health.

Our initial projects are design to have a significant impact on our environment by addressing 13 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), set in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and intended to be achieved by the year 2030.

Our projects are centered around the idea of re-engaging the public with our local ecology which has become an afterthought with the rapid development brought on by the discovery of oil in the region. We plan to focus on matters such as fighting desertification, educating children about sustainability, addressing water scarcity and much more.
